The latest fruit of the skin-care industry?
The humble grape. Grape extract, grape seed oil, crushed grapes and even
red wine are turning up in moisturizers, cleansers, hair conditioners and
scrubs. Rich in saturated fatty acids that are easily absorbed into the
skin, grape derivatives are being touted as powerful moistunzers. What's
more, "grapes have high levels of antioxidants in the form of vitamin A
and even higher levels of vitamin E," says San Francisco dermatologist
Seth Matarasso. "Grape derivatives used on the skin have been reported
to be more protective against free radicals than straight vitamin E."
