Herbs and Breastfeeding?
I've been enjoying Prevention's articles on herbs, but have wondered: Can I safely use them if I'm breastfeedlng?

Editor: "Many herbs (like other drugs) are lipid-soluble (they dissolve in fat) and therefore get into the cell membranes more easily and could reach the baby through breast milk," explains Prevention advisor and herb expert Ara DerMarderosian, PhD. "Since we don't yet know all of the herbs that can find their way into mother's milk, as a general rule of thumb, it's best to avoid taking them while you're breast-feeding unless you first consult with your physician."
